STATEN ISLAND, Ny., April 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- Leaders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, the world's largest network of women and men harmed by abortion, today urged Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry to sign an omnibus abortion measure passed by the state Senate.

"From permitting women to see ultrasounds of their babies prior to abortion to allowing health care workers to opt out of participating in procedures that violate their consciences, this bill would protect the rights of many people," said Georgette Forney, co-founder of SNMAC. "It's rare that so much good could come from one piece of legislation."

"The bill is particularly important to women who may be pressured into abortion," adds Janet Morana, another co-founder of SNMAC. "It would require that abortion facilities post a sign reminding women that it is against the law for anyone, even a relative, to force them to terminate their child's life. Governor Henry has a wonderful opportunity to protect women's rights by signing this measure."

Since the launching of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign in 2003, 2,326 women and men have shared their testimonies publicly at over 200 gatherings in 44 states and six countries where more than 15,000 spectators have heard the truth about abortion's negative aftereffects. More than 4,100 people are registered to be Silent No More. Raising awareness about the hurtful aftermath of abortion and the help that is available to cope with the pain are two of the Campaign's goals.
