FORT WORTH, Texas, May 12 /Christian Newswire/ -- In view of the recent inquiries by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, into the affairs of six churches that all preach the Word of Faith message, Fort Worth-based Kenneth Copeland Ministries has launched BelieversStandUnited.com. This web site is designed to provide up-to-date information about and insight into the inquiry. The site also addresses the questions and concerns of Christians around the world regarding the impact of the senator's inquiry on religious freedom.
In November 2007, Kenneth Copeland Ministries/Eagle Mountain International Church (KCM) and its founders, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, along with five other Pentecostal-Charismatic churches, received letters of inquiry from Sen. Grassley's office. The letters requested the churches turn over to him a broad range of private church documents and information. In addition, some were asked to provide a list of the names and addresses of every minister who had spoken in its pulpit or performed music at its church since 2004.
"It is unprecedented in the history of our country that a U.S. senator would selectively set his investigative sights on six Pentecostal churches and in so doing, attempt to ignore both their constitutional and their legal rights as set forth in the IRS Code," stated Rev. Kenneth Copeland.
BelieversStandUnited.com has been developed to keep the Christian community informed about the ongoing inquiry and to help champion the religious freedoms of all churches. This new site, which had over 7500 visitors during the first few days, is directed at the global Christian community and seeks to educate Christians about their constitutional rights and the effects such governmental inquiries could have on the Church as a whole. Visitors had an opportunity to show their support of protecting church rights and religious freedoms, and more than 6100 people voted in favor during the first week of the pole. The site also provides a forum for readers to speak out regarding the inquiry, ask questions, and express their thoughts and opinions by way of a public blog.
