New Culture-Changing Cinema Workshop for Homeschoolers

Contact: George Escobar, Advent Film Group, 540-751-0518

MEDIA ADVISORY, Sept. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- On the heels of completing its first feature film, "Come What May" (formerly known as "Moot Courting"), Advent Film Group (AFG) will introduce a new Cinema Workshop especially designed for homeschoolers. The introductory event will be held at the 2007 HSLDA National Conference for Christian Homeschool Leaders in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from September 26-29. Signups for the workshop, called: LEARN, FILM, CHANGE are available at the conference to select Homeschool leaders who have a passion for cultural transformation through cinema.

AFG Cinema Workshops will begin in Spring 2008 to kickoff the annual Homeschool conference season. Attendees to the 2007 HSLDA Conference will learn how AFG is grooming a new generation of Christian filmmakers and view the world-premiere DVD teaser trailer of "Come What May."

Ex-Discovery and AOL executive George Escobar recently launched AFG to train students who will one day direct big-budget films with moral integrity.

Advent's goal of rebuilding culture for Christ using an army of homeschoolers has struck a nerve in the Christian community. The company has received calls and emails of support from investment groups, special effects professionals, production companies, distributors and actors. Homeschooling students and parents, dismayed by Hollywood's usurping "faith-based" and "family-friendly" movies to make audiences "feel good" while rejecting Biblical foundations, have likewise responded powerfully to this unique opportunity.

"Why should we settle for just making make positive, moral, wholesome movies?" Escobar asks. "What Hollywood cannot -- and will not -- produce are Christ-centered movies with a Biblical worldview. That is to Advent Film Group's advantage."

Advent hopes to work with homeschool conference leaders to ensure that AFG's Cinema Workshop and ongoing film productions become the gold standard for educating Christians in production and media. The two-part workshop will cover: a) The Failure of Christians in Cinema and How to Fix It; b) Training the Next Generation of Christian Directors.

"The workshop will teach the proper way to make movies that protects a student's Christian walk, promotes a Biblical worldview, and provides a professional path for students (specially homeschoolers) to rebuild culture for Christ through cinema," Escobar explains.
