WASHINGTON, July 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) celebrates with patriotic Americans as we honor the 50th anniversary of our national motto on Sunday. “In God We Trust” was signed into law on July 30, 1956 by President Dwight Eisenhower.
On July 12, 2006, the Senate unanimously passed S. Con. Res. 96 introduced by Senators Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) and Robert Byrd (D-West Virginia), which reaffirms and commemorates our citizens’ dependence upon and acknowledgement of God.
Lanier Swann, Director of Government Relations, says, “We take this opportunity to reflect upon the many blessings God has given our nation recognizing that our motto reflects our history of reliance on God to free us from tyranny. Sunday marks a day to celebrate our heritage and strive to preserve a future worthy of such a rich past.”
“Our motto reasserts the grace that God has given to preserve this country. Without His help, our republic would be lost. The overwhelming support for both our national motto and the words ‘under God’ in the pledge gives all Americans great hope.”
“Our celebration reminds us of the fight we must still engage to counter the ridiculous attempts to purge God from our public square. CWA joins all Americans in celebrating 50 years of our national motto: ‘In God We Trust,’” concluded Swann.
Concerned Women for America is the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization.
