CHICAGO, Dec. 1, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- Timberline Knolls, a leading residential treatment center in the Chicago area, today announced Sara Newhard LCPC, LMFT as its new spirituality and Christian program coordinator. In her new role, Newhard will lead, supervise, and facilitate trainings for primary and family therapists in the Christian treatment program at Timberline Knolls.

"Our goal is that every person in our Christian treatment program, residents and staff alike, authentically lives out of the hope, freedom and love that Jesus has for us," said Newhard.

Newhard will continue to build upon the Christian programming already in place at Timberline Knolls. Residents at Timberline Knolls also gain individualized support from the on-campus chaplain, and engage with other Christian residents in groups and worship services.  Through these various interactions, Timberline Knolls' residents can experience, sometimes for the first time ever, the freedom, love, and hope of Christ.

Women and girls who struggle with eating disorders, addiction, trauma, and mood disorders are impacted on every level including their spirit. Many of these women wonder where God has been at in the midst of the struggle and how He can possibly be good in the midst of so much pain. These are honest questions and residents benefit from engaging in these questions and struggles with a variety of resources on campus from clinicians who have sound clinical training coupled with a solid faith and Biblical understanding of integration.

Newhard received her undergraduate degree in family psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University and her Master’s in clinical psychology from Wheaton College in Ill. She spent several years overseas, living and working in Asia, and doing family counseling in the states, including the juvenile justice system.

"It's so important for our residents to see that even when there is suffering, God is good," adds Newhard.
