Contact: Anthony Horvath, 202-697-4623, director@athanatosministries.org

WASHINGTON, Sept. 9, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Author and cultural critic Nancy Pearcey is set to be the keynote for Athanatos Christian Ministry's fifth annual online apologetics conference this October 24-25th. This year's conference theme is "Women Equipping Women" and features a line-up of sixteen women speaking on a variety of topics related to Christian apologetics--the defense of the faith.

Athanatos Ministries has emphasized cultural engagement as part of its apologetics mission throughout its existence, with conferences on defending the faith through the arts, marriage and the family, and life issues. Through its apologetics academy, it offers a certificate program emphasizing 'literary apologetics.' It also hosts an annual Christian novel writing contest.

ACM's executive director, Dr. Anthony Horvath, states, "With our history, it is fitting that we have someone like Nancy Pearcey as our keynote. Dr. Pearcey has long been a keen analyst of our contemporary society and her book 'Saving Leonardo' resonates with ACM's mission to minister through the arts."

Other speakers at the October conference include Judy Salisbury, MaryJo Sharp, and the chair of the International Society of Women in Apologetics, Marilyn Tyner. Past speakers have included Gary Habermas, Greg Koukl, Gene Edward Veith, and Roy Abraham Varghese.

"This year's theme is 'Women Equipping Women' and highlights the competent work of a number of women involved in Christian apologetics, but it should go without saying that men are welcome and will benefit from the diverse topics we'll be covering," explains Horvath.

In ACM's online conferences, participants are able to see and hear the presentations while being able to chat (via text) directly with the speakers. Some speakers will have prepared slide shows while others will simply use their web cameras. In many cases, the presentations utilize a variety of multimedia tools.

Unlike 'traditional' conferences, the online format allows for a high level of interaction between the speakers and the participants throughout the presentation instead of just during Q&A periods afterwards. There is, of course, the convenience: people can attend the conference without even leaving their homes. Finally, each presentation is recorded so that if it is not possible to attend the whole conference, the missed presentations can be viewed at one's leisure.

The cost to attend the conference is $21. Learn more and register at onlineapologeticsconference.com Dr. Anthony Horvath is available for interviews and can be contacted by email at director@athanatosministries.org or at 202-697-4623.
