IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 3, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Hike for Healing" is Abortion Recovery InterNational's first global fundraiser. The event, launched this week, will take place for 90 days with hopes of raising $50,000 in order to expand services.

Abortion Recovery InterNational (ARIN) is a world-wide association of peer, pastoral and professional counselors helping to restore lives and relationships after abortion. ARIN assists over 40,000 individuals and families per year heal from the emotional and psychological trauma that comes with losing a child by "choice"!

Hike for Healing Teams have been established and are being led by ARIN Leadership and Recovery Ambassadors. ARIN is encouraging those interested to join an existing team or feel free to create their own. Those participating customize a "hike" based on their community needs and schedules.

Examples:

On October 10, 1980, Deborah Tilden's life was changed profusely when she lost her unborn daughter, Guinevere Rose to abortion. Thirty-three year later, this October 10th, Deborah (ARIN Ambassador for Oregon) will hike from the Lovejoy abortion clinic in Portland Oregon to the NW Memorial for the Unborn in Newberg.

Sandy Arena's family too lost much to abortion. Each of them have been profoundly impacted as parents and as siblings. On November 22, 2013 Sandy Arena (ARIN Ambassador for New York) will host a Hike/Dance for Healing event at her dance studio in Rochester, New York. She is dedicating this event to her unborn children in Heaven: Sarah, Dean and Solomon.

Abortion Recovery InterNational was founded with one thought in mind: TO HELP THOSE IMPACTED BY ABORTION!

ARIN President/Co-Founder, Stacy Massey sums it up this way: "Christine Jackman and I had both been traumatized by our own past choices. We knew personally the pain of those hurting. We'd hiked a mile in their shoes!"

She continues, "Ten years later, we continue to walk alongside the families who have been impacted by abortion. Holding the hands of these precious individuals, as they walk their healing journey, is truly a blessing for each of us! And believe me when I say the process can seem like "quite the hike" for those starting recovery! Witnessing our clients' renewed faith in the Father, their reconciliation with family and restored relationships is beyond words of explanation. What a better way to promote healing than to "hike" in honor of all the unborn children not here to "take a step" themselves!  We'd love for you to join us!"
