WASHINGTON, July 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Thursday, August 9th, the White House, in conjunction with the U.S. Departments of Justice, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Education, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, the Agency for International Development, and the Small Business Administration will host its thirty-first conference on President George W. Bush’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative.

The Minneapolis event is the latest in a series of regional conferences designed to help social service providers better understand the President’s Initiative and the Federal funding process.  The conference will offer capacity building workshops to assist organizations with growing their ability to more effectively serve those in need and grant writing tutorials for Federal programs that present some of the best opportunities for faith-based and community organizations.  Attendees will also learn about the legal responsibilities that come with the receipt of Federal funds and tips for approaching corporate, foundation and other private sources of funding.  More than 25,000 faith-based and community leaders have attended these conferences since 2002.
