MEDIA ADVISORY, March 29, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christians are starting to donate their money to non-profit Christian production companies and filmmakers, that produce safe family programming and films, such as MyChristianFilms.org a 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit ministry. There is a growing need and desire for safe family friendly programming among Christians and parents.
"As a parent I am very concerned with what my children are exposed to on TV and in the movies," Melanie L. a mother of two young children said recently. "Hollywood and the secular media just are not getting it or just do not care, but there are a lot of parents like myself who are extremely concerned with the lack of safe family programming. I can not continue to expose my children to all the violence, sex, and anti-Christian themes we see in many programs." Melanie's concerns are backed by many studies which prove that violence, sexuality, race and gender stereotypes, drug and alcohol abuse are common themes of television programs and movies. In fact, one such study reports the average child will watch 8,000 murders on TV before finishing elementary school.
The challenge for people concerned with the lack of safe friendly family TV programming is finding organizations such as MyChristianFilms.org (MCF). "The sad reality is that there are not many Christian filmmakers and production ministries like MCF," Pastor David Wright, CEO of DoersTV.com a free Christian TV Network online said recently. "Non-profit ministries like MCF are very rare and without donations will not survive. It is so critical for Christians and parents who are concerned with the lack of safe family entertainment to support these types of Christian production companies. Without them there are no alternatives." DoersTV, a For-profit TV Network, is putting their money where their mouth is by donating free air-time and free unlimited use of their studio to MCF.
"This is a ministry for us, not a business," Marty Jean-Louis, Founder and Executive Director of MCF said recently. "We are not fundraisers, but we do need the financial support of the Christian community to continue to provide an alternative. People would be amazed how small, consistent monthly, donations go a long way in producing plenty of quality uplifting programming for families."
Will more Christians and parents concerned with the lack of safe friendly family entertainment put their money where their mouth is and support ministries like MCF? My donation says, yes.
