Steve Amerson Sings at 'Circle of Honor' Dinner

NEW YORK, Mar. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- Steve Amerson, well-known Inspirational music artist will be singing at the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation's "Circle of Honor" Dinner Gala at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. Approximately 30 Medal of Honor recipients will be in attendance along with guests and the boards of directors of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Foundation.

 

Steve will be singing three selections including "Blades of Grass and Pure White Stones," a moving tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This song was composed by Senator Orrin Hatch, Lowell Alexander and Phil Naish. Other selections to be sung by Steve Amerson include "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America."

 

The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States. It is awarded to a person who, while a member of the Armed Services, distinguishes himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty.

 

The Foundation will present the 'Circle of Honor Award,' given to a prominent citizen who has made notable contributions to America and who epitomized the principles of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism, to The Honorable John C. Whitehead, a World War II veteran from Omaha Beach on D-Day and the landings at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was Deputy Secretary of State during the Reagan Administration, and is now chairman of the Goldman Sachs Foundation and the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.

 

The 'Courageous Spirit Award' will be awarded to Mohammed Odeh Al-Rehaief, an Iraqi who put his life and that of his family, on the line to save prisoner of war Jessica Lynch.

 

Previous recipients of the 'Circle of Honor Award' include General (USAF-Retired) Richard Myers, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, The Honorable Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense, Mr. Neil Armstrong, first man to walk on the moon, and Mr. Harry Gray, WWII veteran from the Battle of the Bulge and previous chairman & CEO of United Technologies Corporation.

 

On May 23, 2007, Steve Amerson will also be singing for the dedication of the remodeled Congressional Medal of Honor Museum onboard the USS Yorktown in Charleston, South Carolina. The USS Yorktown also serves as the headquarters for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
