NEW YORK, November 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Original GoBible, a powerful audio Bible that has modernized how people study God's Word, is now available in the New International Version (NIV). Through a strategic partnership with the Fellowship for the Performing Arts (FPA), GoBible, LLC, will carry "The Listener's Bible" read by critically-acclaimed narrator Max McLean.

"We believe the Original GoBible represents a major breakthrough in the space of religion and technology and we're glad to partner with Max McLean and FPA to present one of the most popular versions of the Bible – the NIV – on our platform," said Andrew Block, president of GoBible, LLC.

Weighing about as much as the AAA battery that powers it, the small hand-held device comes preloaded with the entire audio version of the Bible and is supported by new technology which allows users to scan through various books, chapters and verses of the Old and New Testaments by using the interactive menu on its LCD screen. Currently, all other audio versions of the Bible are recorded and indexed at the chapter level only, while GoBible's patent pending technology allows the user to search for, begin play and bookmark any individual verse in the entire Bible.

"The Original GoBible is an excellent format for 'The Listener's Bible,' said McLean, who serves as FPA president. "We're thrilled at the possibilities of reaching new and expanding markets with this new technology," he added.

McLean is committed to recapturing the early oral tradition of telling the Bible story with clarity and power. He brings a unique blend of dramatic expression and theological understanding providing Bible listeners a joyous, rewarding experience. McLean's recordings of the Bible have been nominated for Best Inspirational Audio by the Audio Publisher's Association on two separate occasions and he is also known for his theatrical presentations of "Mark's Gospel," "Genesis," and C. S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters."

Steve Johnson, Global Publisher for IBS-STL said of the partnership, "So many people in our modern world are turning away from the printed page. Because of this, we think it's critical to reach people with Scripture in new, innovative ways. The combination of the GoBible and the NIV as the most trusted English translation is a marriage that will reach countless people with God's Word in a dynamic, new format."

The Listener's Bible - NIV version of the GoBible will contain all of the unique features of the original versions, which include a "Bible-in-a-Year" program, Story Index, Topic Index, and bookmarks. Additionally, the NIV GoBible will include a Holliday/Events Index that aids the user in finding specific Scripture passages of particular spiritual relevance to 15 important days and events which affect our lives, including Christmas, Easter and Mother's Day.

The Original GoBible is also available in the New King James and King James versions voiced by award-winning Stephen Johnston known for his PBS documentaries and the late, legendary, Alexander Scourby, the "Voice of the Bible," respectively. Retailing for $99.95, The Original GoBible can be purchased at select Christian bookstores, online at www.gobible.com, or by phone at 1-866-GOBIBLE.
