FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Jan. 9, 2014 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Thomas A. Glessner, Virginia attorney and president of The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), announced today the unveiling of The Declaration of Dependence, a statement of unity in support of the self-evident and unalienable right to life.
NIFLA is seeking the signatures of thousands of Americans who desire to affirm their dependence upon our Creator, the author of life and unify under foundational life principles upon which the American Republic was birthed.

The Declaration of Dependence sets forth foundational life principles which, if successfully implemented throughout the culture, will affirm the legal personhood of the unborn and bring about an end to abortion. It does not endorse a specific political strategy to achieve an abortion free America but rather, seeks to unify all pro-life Americans upon the basic biblical life principles which form the foundation for the pro-life call to end abortion in America.
In setting forth these life principles the Declaration of Dependence quotes from historical figures such as Thomas Jefferson, William Wilberforce, Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mother Teresa.
Glessner says: "President Lincoln, during the dark days of the Civil War, stated 'It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God.' Today America's people need to humble themselves and acknowledge their dependence upon the Creator. When we do this and affirm the life principles upon which our nation was birthed we will begin to see dramatic cultural changes that will ultimately bring an end to abortion."
