LA CROSSE, Wisconsin, September 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Christian apologetics ministry at Sntjohnny.com has been debating the merits of Christianity for five years. The discussion forum is one of the few places where skeptics and those hostile to the faith are welcome: if they can take the heat.

Anthony Horvath, Executive Director of Athanatos Christian Ministries has been defending the Christian faith over the Internet ever since he himself first wrestled with unbelief, fifteen years ago.

He reflects on the way the Internet has changed ministry, evangelism, and apologetics in particular, "Thirty years ago there wasn't a forum for anyone other than professors, pastors, and scholars to engage in disputes over the nature of reality. Maybe you had an atheist friend or a Mormon neighbor but that was the extent of it. The Internet has been the 'great equalizer.' Today anyone can find someone to argue with."

Horvath says, "One of the hallmarks of my discussion forum is its leniency. We let people get away with things that would get them kicked off many other forums, which in fact many of our members have experienced. Sometimes having strict 'moral' rules for a forum is just an excuse to be thin skinned. Atheists and non-Christians have hard questions and if you make them phrase things in the manner you demand they will probably just walk away. Evangelism is hard enough without requiring people to meet you on your terms."

Because of his willingness to take all comers, Horvath invites churches, ministries, and organizations to refer those with difficult challenges to the Christian faith to his forum.

Competent Christians are welcome as well but are warned that the atmosphere might be different than other forums they've participated in. Horvath explains, "We try very hard to distinguish between the person and the argument, and I am proud of the numerous relationships that have been forged between members over the last decade, but you're going to have to pay your dues just like everyone else."
