COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 23, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Lars Dunberg, former president of Living Bibles International and the International Bible Society, with more than 40 years in the print publication and book publishing world, has launched Mountainbrook Press (www.mountainbrookpress.com), with an emphasis on international authors and curriculum for the Church, including several of Dr. Dunberg's new releases from his acclaimed work.

Dr. Dunberg is writing and releasing curriculum and study guides on 28 basic Christian topics titled "The Basic Things You Need to Know" that have been translated into Spanish and (6) Languages for India, (1) for Ukraine, (1) for Nepal and (1) for Uganda, to equip pastors and lay people worldwide at a time of extreme persecution of Christians as seen via recent headline news. Mountainbrook press has released six topics this year, with two more being released in October 2014.

"In 50 years of ministry, I have not known a time where so many Christians are persecuted for their faith as witnessed in the daily headline news. Time is short in some of those countries and it imperative that individuals and pastors are equipped with the basic truths of the gospel. That is why 'The Basic Things You Need to Know' series is so important right now," said Dr. Dunberg.

General John Larsson, former world leader of The Salvation Army, said, "Lars Dunberg is a phenomenon, a renaissance man for our times—a Bible scholar, evangelist, pastor, writer, publisher, action man, and above all, a down to earth communicator. When it comes to telling the basic things of the Christian life, no one does it better."

Dr. Dunberg's background in publishing and in ministry, which includes the Salvation Army and Youth for Christ, creates a distinctive platform for Mountainbrook Press and it's authors. In addition to the curriculum that has been translated into 10 languages and published by Mountainbrook Press (MP), it is also representing both acclaimed and up and coming authors.

Bill Hybels, founder and senior pastor of Willow Creek Community Church, said this about Mountainbrook Press author, Kjell Axel Johanson: "I have known, admired, and partnered in ministry with Kjell Axel for over 20 years. His new book, 'Rise Above Your Chains' will challenge and inspire readers for decades to come."

Lars Dunberg has traveled around the globe more than 100 times and ministered in more than 80 countries, in churches of every conceivable denomination and background. In 1993, Mother Teresa invited Dr. Dunberg for tea at her office in Kolkata, which resulted in the provision of Bibles for all the centers she had around the world. He has met with Christian leaders such as Dr. Billy Graham, Luis Palau, Joni Earickson Tada and Jim Cymbala and worldwide dignitaries such as Teddy Kollek, former Mayor of Jerusalem, Shankar Dayal Sharma, former President of India, Menachem Begin, former Israeli Prime Minister and President Fidel Ramos, former President of the Philippines.

Lars Dunberg has authored over 10 books and his pastoral monthly mentoring letter is read by more than 2,300 Christian leaders worldwide. Lars has been married to Doreen since 1967 and they have three children and five grandchildren, all residing in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During their years in Europe, Lars served on the Board of Kingsway Publishers, Eastbourne, UK, helped launch Maison Farel publishing house in France and founded and operated InterSkrift Publishers in Sweden, a division of Tyndale House Publishers.
