ENUMCLAW, Wash., July 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Over ninety percent of people who gain salvation revert to their old lifestyle within a year," says evangelist John "JC" Gold.

The church has done a poor job at teaching basic discipleship, Gold believes, keeping many trapped in destructive cycles of sin and condemnation. In essence, many feel stuck because they don't know the nuts and bolts of their faith. He recalls the countless Sundays he sat in church, listening to sermons about what he should do and what he should become. But those sermons failed to answer his critical question: How?

"I always felt I was not clean enough, not good enough, and that I would never fit in. By its actions or inactions, the church made me more confused." Even so, Gold says he felt "a constant tugging at my heart." This tugging caused him to keep searching. He sensed God telling him, "My way is simple. My Word is simple."

As Gold followed this "simple" path to faith, he began to develop a passionate relationship with Christ. Determined to help others get to know their savior intimately, Gold penned his first book, "Great! I'm Saved, Now What?" The book hinges on a simple precept, explains Gold: "Jesus is our blueprint, and the Bible is our instruction manual."

"We have to remove the clutter, the arguments, and the confusion," he continues. "We need to get back to teaching the simplicity of what it means to be saved."

He describes "Great! I'm Saved, Now What?" as a "milk" book that gets skeptics, backsliders, and new believers moving toward the Cross. As people learn and begin to understand basic principles of the Kingdom--love, forgiveness, and boldness--Gold is convinced they will develop a clearer understanding of who they are, why God created them, and what their purpose in life is.

"People need to start asking questions from their heart, honestly confronting the life they have led, and taking God seriously," he says. "When they do, they will realize that God has made them worthy of all the promises in His Word because of Jesus."
