WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Washington Times became the latest sponsor of the 2014 Black Conservative Summit (BCS) Leadership Initiative which opens today, Thursday, September 25th in Washington D.C. on the eve of important national elections.  Registration at the door (limited seating) is still available for the event organized by Freedom's Journal Institute from 8am to 5pm at the Kirby Center and includes an evening reception across the street at the Heritage Foundation from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.‎  Registration is $99 at the door.  Breakfast and lunch are included in the cost.

The event is also sponsored by One America News Network, GrasstopsUSA.com, The Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, National Organization for Marriage, UrbanFamilyTalk.com, Wallace Multimedia Group, Freedom Journal Magazine, High Impact Leadership Coalition, The Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society, World Congress of Families, The Radiance Foundation, American Majority and the Frederick Douglass Foundation.

In the midst of important national policy debates, this year's summit will feature some of the leading Black conservatives and Christian leaders from across the country, including Bishop Harry Jackson, Ken Blackwell, Brian Brown, Day Gardner, Ben Kinchlow, Dr. Eric Wallace, Dean Nelson, Walter Hoye, Bishop E.W. Jackson, Jennifer Marshall, Bruce Smith, and Former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint.  The event's theme is "Advancing Conservative Principles and Stemming the Liberal Tide: A Matter of Faith, Race and Politics."

Dr. Eric Wallace, founder of Freedom's Journal Magazine and Institute explained, "The goal with the Black Conservative Summit (BCS) is to create a 'paradigm shift' in the way people, in general, and the African American populace, in particular, view matters of faith, race and public policy.  The BCS pledges to vigorously challenge 'liberal' ideology with those conservative principles, such as the R.I.S.E. Principles, essential to promoting and sustaining a stable and prosperous family and society."

Freedom's Journal Institute (FJI) is devoted to research, education, and the advancement of public policy that promotes Responsible government, Individual liberty and fidelity, Strong natural family values, and Economic empowerment (R.I.S.E. Principles) in the urban community from a biblical perspective.  FJI believes that at no other time in American history has the fight to uphold our nation's founding principles required our undivided attention.  Dr. Wallace explains R.I.S.E. principles and conservative ideology in light of a biblical worldview with a series of 5 videos that can be view at  www.freedomsjournal.net/2013/04/12/the-r-i-s-e-principles-all-5-videos/.

Dr. Wallace also founded Freedom's Journal Magazine, the modern-day journal inspired by the 1827 African American newspaper of the same name, is a tribute to the courage and foresight of Samuel E. Cornish and John B. Russwurm, co-founders of America's Black Press. These early "freedom fighters" desired to give African Americans of their day a vehicle to voice their thoughts, ideas and opinions declaring, "[w]e wish to plead our own cause. Too long have others spoken for us. Too long has the public been deceived by misrepresentation of things which concern us dearly." These words hold as much truth today as they did when they were originally written.

Space is limited so make sure not to miss out on this unique opportunity. Register at the door  For program and more information on this year's Black Conservative Summit, please visit www.blackconservativesummit.net.
