WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) is pleased to announce the selection of Tommie Cosby as Area Director of Texas -- East. Tommie has significant experience in serving the public. In the last several years she has served as Secretary of the Wood County Republican Party, CWA of Texas State Steering Committee, CWA Prayer/Action Leader and various positions in the First United Methodist Church. Prior to locating in Mineola, other areas of her service include Vice-chairmanship of the Shelby County Republican Party, Shelby County Child Protective Services Board, the American Cancer Society, leadership in scouting and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Tommie’s desire to be a responsible voter drove her to research issues and candidates. She reported, “As I became more informed, I became more concerned, for the issues were then, and continue to be, critical. I also became more aware that friends and community members had little knowledge of many of the issues. The successful pursuit of knowledge and an active membership in Concerned Women for America sparked an urgency to share what I had learned. The resulting Prayer/Action Chapter met together, prayed, pursued information and learned that our legislators appreciate informed and courteous contributions to the political process.”
She became a CWA Area Director because she believes “that our children deserve all the opportunities and freedoms declared in the Constitution of the United States. Many Americans do not realize what a precious and magnificent form of government was designed by our forefathers and, unfortunately, many of the rights outlined therein are being eroded and/or misinterpreted and misused.” She stated, “One of my goals for this area is to be more accessible to civic, community and church groups for informational programs on the issues of the day as well the goals and vision of CWA.”
As CWA of East Texas’ new Area Director, Tommie will work with its nearly 3000 members to build additional Prayer/Action Chapters and coordinate CWA’s grassroots activities in legislation and media.
Beverly LaHaye founded CWA in l979. Since that time, CWA has become the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, with more than 500,000 members. Its mission is to protect and promote Biblical values among all citizens – first through prayer, then education, and finally by influencing our society --thereby reversing the decline in moral values in our nation.
Tommie can be contacted by phone at 903-569-2744, or e-mail at e.director@texas.cwfa.org.
