MEDIA ADVISORY, Jan. 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- While Senator Fred Thompson has withdrawn his name from candidacy for President, many in Jesusland are still planning on voting for Fred, according to David Jeffers, author of Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland. "Many evangelicals have contacted me and have either or are planning to vote for Fred Thompson. I have cast my ballot for Fred Thompson."
Jeffers says while many will view this movement as futile, he says that we cannot predict what the future holds. As I've written in my latest article "Walking in the Light":
"I've been told by many that I'm dreaming if I believe the GOP convention will be brokered, but do they know that for sure? Can we evangelicals say that God cannot work in that way? Please understand that I am not speculating nor predicting; I would not presume to speak for God. I'm merely reminding the flock that we still serve a mighty God…So I'm going to walk in the light I have now and know that God will provide more light later. That light is showing me to go with what I had planned all along."
Jeffers says he fully expects to be accused of wasting his vote, but he addresses that issue in his article too. "We are allowed to vote for the candidate of our choice according to the rules of our state party," Jeffers reminds those in Jesusland.
Jeffers knows this is a long shot and says, "I want the best conservative candidate, the one who most closely aligns with my values. The rest are a distant second. I cannot imagine voting for any of them. Come November 4th that may all change…But for now, I'm still a Fredhead!"
