Leaders from Across the Nation Gather to Honor Bishop Tommy Reid for 50 Years of Ministry

NEW YORK, June 10, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Spiritual powerhouses from across the nation, including Dr. Jack Hayford, Bill Johnson and Marilyn Hickey, will join Robert Stearns of Eagles' Wings in July for a dynamic weekend of worship, multi-generational ministry and the honoring of Bishop Tommy Reid (photo), an internationally respected leader in the Body of Christ celebrating 50 years of serving the Lord.

Dubbed the Legacy Conference, organizers say Reid's prominence among top Christian leaders and his powerful legacy as a spiritual father globally inspired the July 18-20 event in Western New York.

"In Scripture, God describes himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob," said Stearns, whose ministry was launched with Reid's help more than 20 years ago. "God's intention is clearly for the generations to serve together in His kingdom."

"With the Legacy Conference, we honor a spiritual father among us while bringing together some of the finest leaders from across the generations to equip the people of God and bring kingdom transformation," he added.

Reid's legacy is revival, to a large extent. Born shortly after the wildfires of early 20th century Pentecostalism, he walked through the Latter Rain of the 1940s, the Healing Revival of the 1950s, and widespread revival in the Philippines where he pastored a church of over 7,000 members. Reid also co-labored with David Yonggi Cho during South Korea's budding revival.

Today, Christian leaders know of Reid's national and international influence and his involvement in church plants both locally and across the globe. But for those who know him well, it is a heart of outreach, sincerity and charity for his fellow man that defines Reid at his core.

"Something foundational and fundamental for me that Reid always said was that every human being is created in the image of God and that each has a place of dignity and a place of worth," Stearns said.

As the world increasingly dishonors everything from life in the womb and marriage to fathers and mothers, this is an important moment to pause and recognize those who are leaving a godly legacy for future generations.

Alongside the main sessions, the conference will include simultaneous children (ages 5-12) and youth (ages 13-19) tracks called "Encounter" to equip the next generation to live for God.

Reid, who recently turned 80, will host the conference at The Tabernacle in Orchard Park, N.Y., where he is senior pastor.
