Contact:  Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, 540-538-4741

WASHINGTON, Jan. 21, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ --  Activists call the passage of this legislation a first step toward ending abortion and embracing human rights for all.

On Wednesday, January 21, at 1:00 P.M. pro-life leaders will hold a news conference and demonstration on the lower western terrace of the United States Capitol building.

Some in the group will hold graphic pictures of the victims of  abortion reminding members of Congress what is really at stake concerning the passage of this legislation.

On Thursday, January 22, at 9:00 A.M. activists will hold a prayer vigil outside of the office of newly elected Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Here is the Facebook Event Page link for the event:

They will be kneeling in prayer outside of his office which is located at the Russell Senate Office building in room 317.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition and one of the organizers of the events, states;

    "The pro-life community calls upon the House and Senate to pass the ban on abortions after 20 weeks as a first step toward ending the violence of abortion and moving forward toward embracing human rights and equality for all Americans.

    "We can never be silent while the children of our nation are brutalized and women are diminished and wounded through abortion.

    "We will continue to speak, act and pray with energy and passion until abortion is on the scrapheap of history like slavery and segregation.  The pro-life community will continue to challenge our political leaders that their principal responsibility is ensure 'the right to life' for all.

    "The tragic and graphic pictures we show of the victims of abortion at the United States Capitol demonstrate in the clearest possible terms what is at stake concerning America's children.

    "We especially call upon Majority Leader McConnell to move this critical legislation through the Senate."

The pro-life youth ministry, Survivors, is cosponsoring the event.  Kristina Garza, Campus Outreach Director for Survivors states;

    "We thank and applaud our representatives for taking this first step to legally protect the most vulnerable among us -- unborn children.  Only the most calloused individuals would not support legislation to protect children from painful death by dismemberment."
