LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Parents Television Council™ (PTC) will present its Entertainment Seal of Approval™ to Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), JCTV, and Smile of a Child for being authentic, family-friendly cable networks. PTC president Tim Winter will present the award to TBN's chief of staff, Paul Crouch, Jr, on TBN's Behind the Scenes program on February 29.

The PTC Seal of Approval is presented to outstanding DVDs, films, television shows, and networks that emphasize positive, pro-family values and do not contain sex, violence, or profanity.

"We commend the TBN Networks for upholding the positive values that families hold dear," says Winter. "Our culture seems to grow ever more resistant to what is best for the family and this includes many broadcast and cable networks. The TBN networks stand out for their excellent programming that the entire family can watch and enjoy together."

In light of the FCC's (Federal Communications Commission) recent rulings which affirm their commitment to enforcing broadcast decency laws, PTC's Seal of Approval to TBN is especially significant. TBN offers programming that does not put broadcasters in jeopardy of receiving stiff fines from the FCC, and the PTC's approval is a beacon for viewers – while tuned in to TBN, they can be assured they'll be watching programs that are devoid of inappropriate and offensive messages.

"Verizon applauds this recognition of TBN and its affiliated networks, JCTV and Smile of a Child, for excellence in programming," says William Binford, director, Verizon FiOS TV content and programming. "Providing the full complement of TBN services gives our customers many opportunities to view wholesome programming that is appropriate for the entire family to watch together."

A passionate champion of broadcast decency, TBN's roster of programming is helping to play a vital role in bringing family values back to broadcast media. All of the network's shows are completely commercial-free, eliminating an often hidden source of offensive content: commercials.

"TBN constantly strives to espouse family ideals, which is why the PTC's endorsement means a great deal," says Crouch. "TBN is completely donor-supported, with families around the world watching our programming on sixty satellites. We hope this tremendously prestigious honor will bring about further awareness of the PTC and all its valuable services to our intensely loyal, faith-based viewers."

TBN's lifestyle network for young adults, JCTV is a refreshing alternative to the explicit and often shocking fare available on secular TV networks. Devoted to a hip, spiritually-focused, cutting edge format highlighting teen talk, reality shows, extreme sports, comedy, concerts, and music videos, JCTV's list of indecency-free, faith-based programming includes Extreme Video Zone, Real Videos (music), The Remix, Virtual Memory, Xtreme Impact, the Logan Show, Pastor Greg, and the Ultimate Choice (a reality show).

"As pioneers in Christian television, Aglow applauds TBN for their positive alternatives for our children," says Jane Hansen Hoyt, president/CEO of Aglow International. "This generation of children and youth need positive messages more than ever before. Thank you TBN for providing quality programming, and congratulations on this wonderful recognition from the Parents Television Council!"

The Smile of a Child children's network is the only faith-based TV network of its kind. Though there is plenty of programming on other networks for children, much of it is laden with questionable messages. Smile of a Child's programming is value-driven and instructional; shows like Dooley and Pals and Pahappahooey Island inspire children while re-enforcing the kind of solid values that help to shape young minds. Parents can relax and trust that their children are not simply being mindlessly entertained or worse, shamelessly manipulated.

"TBN is to be congratulated on their efforts to produce children's and teenage programming with faith and values," says Dr. Ted Baehr, chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission, and publisher of MOVIEGUIDE. "The recognition of their efforts is a miracle in itself. Bravo!"

Available in over ninety percent of American households with a presence in every country around the globe, TBN is a broadcaster as well as a family of networks.
