MIAMI, Aug. 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- Haiti Kids Foundation chairman and minister Jesse Johnson will cycle into Miami today, having completed his 4,000-mile in 40 days “Bike for Haiti Kids” initiative. Johnson departed Seattle on July 14th, and crossed the country solo to raise awareness of the needs of Haitian children, with the goal of raising $1,000,000 along the way. Johnson will arrive at Toussaint L’ouverture elementary school in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood at 1:30 p.m. EDT, and be greeted by 500 schoolchildren as well as Haitian-American community leaders, supporters and the media.

“The Bike for Haiti Kids has been challenging on many levels, but in the end a success because we have informed and engaged thousands of people across the country on the issues facing the children of Haiti,” said Johnson.

The Haiti Kids Foundation is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives and futures of Haitian children by providing safe living environments and life sustaining care.

Haiti Kids Foundation plans to direct all funds raised from the Bike For Haiti Kids project to supporting and extending the work of quality orphanages in and near Port-a-Prince. The foundation’s long-term plans include developing new orphanages and programs to strengthen living environments for all Haitian children.

“My hope all along was that people will be inspired by this ride to learn more about the children of Haiti, and get involved in making life changing improvements in their lives,” said Johnson. “Even if people contribute only a few dollars, that money will make a difference to a child in need.”

According to Johnson, the foundation is covering all of their operational expenses so that 100% of all funds raised during Bike for Haiti’s Kids will go directly to serving the children in Haiti.
