SACRAMENTO, Sept. 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed SB 1437, one of three school sexual indoctrination bills on his desk.  In his lengthy veto message, the Governor said, “I am vetoing this bill because the vagueness of the term ‘reflects adversely’ would not strengthen this important area of legal protection from bias based on sexual orientation.”  However, Schwarzenegger has not yet vetoed the two remaining school indoctrination bills, AB 606 and AB 1056.

Responding to Wednesday’s veto of SB 1437 is Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), one of California’s leading pro-family organizations, which throughout the year has been fighting against the trio of indoctrination bills on behalf of California’s dads and moms:

“That’s good, but what about the other two sexual indoctrination bills, AB 606 and AB 1056?

“The Governor needs to veto all three school indoctrination bills.  Parents and grandparents want a consistent governor, not a flip-flopping governor.

“AB 606 requires the California Superintendent of Public Instruction to arbitrarily withhold state funds – around two-thirds of a school district’s budget – from any district that does not adopt the state’s ‘model policy’ mandating teacher training to promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality on campus.  AB 606 also permits schools to promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality in ‘any curriculum, textbook, presentation.’”

On Sept. 5, CCF held a State Capitol protest where speakers told the Governor he must veto ALL THREE sexual indoctrination bills, “or the people will veto him.”  One of the speakers, Robla School Board President Craig DeLuz, vigorously spoke against AB 606, saying:

“The worst of all of them is AB 606.  It gives the Superintendent of Public Institution the ability to withhold money from schools that are not implementing policies that are indoctrinating our children. They are using our own tax dollars against us.  That is our money!

“Our governor is a Republican.  We represent what are called ‘values voters.’  No Republican has ever gotten elected in any state without the vote of values voters.  No Republican has ever gotten elected in this state without our vote. Governor, our vote is on the line here!  Veto these bills!  Don’t wait, don’t wait ‘til the end of September.  Veto them now!”
