ATLANTA, June 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Charles Humbard, founder and president of the Gospel Music Channel television network, was named one of the top five Small to Mid-Sized Business People of the Year in Metro Atlanta today at the Annual Small Business Person of the Year Awards.
The award, which for 22 years has honored outstanding small to mid-size businesses every year for their contributions to Atlanta's civic and business community, is sponsored by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

In just over three years, Humbard created and hired a team that has led the Gospel Music Channel to becoming the fastest growing network in cable television today. GMC had a 300% increase in distribution in 2007 alone and landed agreements with every major cable operator. Just recently, DIRECTV launched GMC to most of its 17 million customers driving GMC into nearly 40 million total households nationwide. Humbard and his team helped the network land 40 Blue Chip advertisers representing more than 160 Different Brands, including Coca-Cola, Proctor & Gamble, Lincoln Mercury, Unilever, Wal-Mart, Allstate, Royal Caribbean, Hallmark Stores, Sears, six of the eight major Hollywood studios.
