NORWICH, Conn., Oct. 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- 40 Days for Life is a prayer campaign that is in the 23th day of its 40 days of prayer, fasting ,and constant vigil outside of the local Norwich Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. We are being joined by 88 cities in 32 other states and thousands are praying together, asking God to end abortion in America.
Corinn Dahm said we wish to bring attention to the huge disparity between the number of abortions in Connecticut and the small number of adoptions." Data released by the Connecticut Department of Public Health indicates that in 2006 the number of abortions increased drastically over the previous year by 2,002 totaling 14,112 abortions in CT alone.
The source, Fact Book 4 the National Campaign for Adoption, sites the most recent adoption data from 2002 indicating that Connecticut had only 1,054 domestic adoptions with only 229 being infants, 804 were older children, 577 being a special needs child.
"The encouragement of adoption should be a national effort equal to that which we give to the stop smoking campaign," said Corinn Dahm, a spokesperson for 40 Days for Life, who herself was an adopted child. She has expressed concern over "So few women choose adoption and yet it is healthier for the women and of course the baby. I was adopted from birth and thank God each day for my biological mother and my adoptive mother."
Corinn Dahm, stated "the question is why do we have so many infertile couples going to foreign countries to adopt a baby when we have 1.2 million women choosing to abort their babies instead of offering them life to help 1.5 million infertile couples wanting to adopt and give these children a loving home. Women who give their babies life and place them for adoption are the unsung heroes of our time. Adoption is a choice we can all live with, yet it is rarely even considered today."
