ESCONDIDO, Calif., Nov. 16, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- National Bible Day, with International Christian Leaders Dr. Verna Linzey and her son Dr. Jim Linzey (retired Major and Chairman of the event), sponsored by Military Bible Association and hosted by Westminster Seminary California in Escondido, California, will be held on November 21, 2011, at 12:00 noon at the seminary chapel.

America was established on the Bible. The first settlers at Plymouth Rock, the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and many presidents of the United States have relied on God and the Bible for guidance. God’s word is necessary to strengthen America and her leaders and for wisdom to lead her in the moral direction to have a prosperous and secure future.  Throughout America, Americans gather on the Monday of Thanksgiving Week with political, business and religious leaders to publicly read the Bible. As a result God will bless America.

The inspiration for National Bible Day is Nehemiah 8:1-3: "And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel. And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month. And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law." Further inspiration is found in I Timothy 4:13 which states, "...give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine."

Participating on the platform are Escondido Mayor Sam Abed, Fire Chief Mike Lowry, Police Chief Jim Maher, Justin Davis (vice president, Peace Officers & Fire Fighters Fellowship), Captain Ollis Mozon, CHC, USN (Senior Chaplain, Camp Pendleton), LTC Harry Hodges, USA (Ret.) (president, Military Officer’s Association, Hidden Valley Chapter), Rev. Meg Decker (Rector, Trinity Episcopal Church), Rev.
