MEDIA ADVISORY, Dec. 7, 2010 /Christian Newswire/ -- Saint Luke Productions and its film division, Luke Films, shocked the entertainment industry and the press by successfully producing and distributing THÉRÈSE (http://stlukeproductions.com), a feature film that received tremendous grassroots support and played in mainstream movie theaters for an unprecedented 70 weeks. Now, THÉRÈSE will premiere on U.S. television this December 8th on EWTN at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT. The film's director and actor, Leonardo Defilippis, the founder of Saint Luke Productions, will be featured as the guest on one of EWTN's most popular prime time shows, EWTN Live, preceding the film's airing.
Based on her popular autobiography, Story of a Soul, THÉRÈSE tells the true story of an ordinary girl, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, France, also known as the "Little Flower," who has become the most popular saint of modern times. Following the death of her mother when she was four years old, Thérèse became an emotional and fragile child. When she was 14 she experienced a mysterious Christmas Eve conversion that filled her with a love for God and a yearning to save souls. At the very young age of 15, she entered the Carmelite monastery, and it was there that Thérèse discovered a "little way" to grow close to God, through the simple hidden sacrifices of everyday life.
In a lavish period production, this is a story of struggle, tragedy, and the greatest of all romances. The film's inspiring message of a bold, yet unworldly heroism, demonstrates that anyone, in any walk of life, can become a saint while persevering through human weaknesses. THÉRÈSE, also one of the last films seen and blessed by Pope John Paul II, was dedicated to the late pontiff.
Currently celebrating 30 years, Saint Luke Productions is unique in that it draws audiences to the beauty and richness of the Catholic Faith with a repertoire of works which are truly beautiful, honest and authentic portrayals of Jesus Christ and numerous saints.
