Life Legal Defense Foundation Fights On to Keep Huntsville Abortion-Free
New Alabama Laws Shuts Down City's Last Abortion Clinic

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., June 26, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- As the Alabama Women's Center for Reproductive Alternatives in Huntsville, Alabama, shuts its doors at month's end, Life Legal Defense Foundation continues efforts to prevent the abortion provider from reopening at a new location.

"We rejoice that as of July 1, Huntsville is abortion free," stated Dana Cody, President and Executive Director of Life Legal Defense Foundation, "and we will vigorously oppose any attempt to reopen this or any other abortion facility in this city."

State inspectors had determined that the clinic would need significant physical alterations to comply with the new Women's Health and Safety Act that goes into effect July 1. The law requires Alabama abortion clinics to meet the same building standards as ambulatory surgical centers.

The abortion provider hopes to move to a new location in Huntsville, but has been unsuccessful in obtaining the proper permits and licenses thus far. Life Legal Defense Foundation attorney Allison Aranda is working with local pro-life activists on zoning issues that may prevent the facility -- and its criminal-conviction bearing abortionists -- from opening near an elementary and middle school.

The facility's medical director, abortionist Ramon Lopez, has been serving weekend jail time for the past six months related to previous criminal convictions. His co-abortionist, Yashica Robinson-White, was recently indicted for Medicaid fraud and selling illegal birth control devices. As the clinic surrenders its license, both abortionists are on the verge of losing theirs.

As Alabama Women's Center for Reproductive Alternatives seeks licensing to reopen at a new location, Life Legal Defense Foundation will continue to work with local citizenry to throw up legal roadblocks at every step in the process.
