COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Dec. 1, 2010 /Christian Newswire/ -- On November 27, 2010, Biblica launched the Thai NIV Study Bible. It is one of the first Study Bibles available in the Thai language, providing more than 20 million Thai speakers an opportunity to engage with God's Word with study notes and added features that shed light on the meaning and significance of Scripture. Features include character profiles, introductions and outlines with valuable background information for each book of the Bible, maps, charts and illustrations, and a concordance.
Professors, scholars, denominational and church leaders, and those involved with the making of the Thai NIV Study Bible gathered on November 27 at Wattana Church in Bangkok to celebrate the launch of the Thai NIV Study Bible. It took eight years and a team of 20 to put together this study Bible to ensure that the translation was produced with accuracy and clarity for optimal user engagement.
Thailand is primarily Buddhist, and the small Christian population needs better Scripture knowledge to reach their community with the gospel. The Thai NIV Study Bible will help the Thai people read Scripture with deeper understanding.
"We pray that that the Thai NIV Study Bible will be a great blessing to Thai Christians, and that we will gain further understanding of God’s Word that our lives may be changed accordingly," said Naree Chestsuttayangkul, the Thai translation project coordinator.
The Thai NIV Study Bible is available through local churches, seminaries, and Bible schools. The Bible will also be available upon request to Thai speakers in other regions of the world. The Thai Bible without study notes is available in PDF form at Biblica.com/bibles.
