WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- "One of the many positive impacts we're hearing about 40 Days for Life is that the nationwide collection of pro-life vigils is both invigorating veteran pro-lifers and bringing many new participants into pro-life efforts," said David Bereit, national campaign director for 40 Days for Life.

40 Days for Life is a campaign of prayer and fasting, constant vigil and community outreach that is being conducted simultaneously in more than 80 communities in 33 states. Many of the efforts involve round-the-clock prayer vigils at abortion facilities. The vigils will continue through November 4.

"People have been waiting for a new, effective way to express their pro-life point of view," said Bereit. "We're finding that thousands across the country are embracing this campaign as something that is both new and exciting, but also strong and effective in getting the message out that abortion is an evil that we will not tolerate in our communities, in our nation, in our society."

  • Hamilton, New Jersey: "40 Days for Life has moved hundreds of pro-lifers from the sidelines into the field of play."

  • Niagara Falls, New York: "The peaceful prayer vigils are bringing people out to pray who had not come out during protests."

  • Tri Cities, Michigan: "One seasoned pro life advocate has heard of more babies saved from abortion in the last few days than in the last six months combined."

  • Reno, Nevada: "We have people who are for the first time putting pro-life bumper stickers on their cars and lawn signs in front of their homes. It's small, but for our community, it's a start."

  • Madison, Wisconsin: "40 Days for Life has been a way to really rekindle pro-life passions in individuals and our community."

  • Morristown, New Jersey: "We've grown to 8 vigil sites in 6 counties, and expect to keep on adding two or three more each week."

  • Waco, Texas: "The 40 Days for Life campaign has doubled the number of individuals participating in pro-life activity."

  • Columbia, South Carolina: "At various sites it has brought together people of faith united in a common cause, and new faces have appeared in the pro-life work."

  • Akron, Ohio: "The clinics have certainly noticed and responded by calling in escorts, so now our prayer witnesses feel even more engaged in the battle."

"We can hardly wait to see what God will do next," said Bereit.
