Can Atheists Know God Does Not Exist When They Don't Know What's in Your Garage?

People lack the perspective and knowledge to legitimately deny God's existence and Christians need not be intimidated by the blind faith of their arguments

HORSHAM, Penn., Nov. 20, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christians are intimidated and suffer the loss of joy and assurance in the face of sophisticated arguments against faith in Christ. But is it accurate to say that unbelief is reasonable and scientific while Christianity is unreasonable blind faith?

Not according to Dr. Craig Biehl. In his book, The Box, he answers the question, "Could it be that Christian faith is neither blind nor unreasonable, while the best arguments of atheism and agnosticism are built on unsupportable leaps of blind faith?"  The answer may surprise you. (Pilgrim's Rock Press and Bible .org, 2014, ISBN: 978-0-990666646, $12.95, www.PilgrimsRock.com/TheBox ).

"Mr. A's nightmare was small potatoes compared to Mr. C's little antique box. Why did Mr. A convert from being a confident atheist to a rather non-committal agnostic? That Mr. C didn't fit the stereotype of an ignorant hypocrite bothered Mr. A, but why does he now doubt his once unflinching ability to make reasonable claims about the existence of God? He is even nervous about a possible afterlife. The little brown box had shaken him to the core. Was he really a man of faith, and blind unjustified faith at that?" (From The Box).

"Arguments rest on assumptions, and false assumptions produce faulty conclusions, regardless of the sophistication of the argument…. If the unjustified faith assumptions of unbelief can be exposed and understood, all Christians can be equipped to answer the most sophisticated arguments of unbelief."

Two years after graduating from college, Craig's life was turned right-side up from a view of the infinite excellence of Jesus Christ as revealed in Scripture. He recently launched Pilgrim's Rock to develop home school curriculum to nurture unbreakable faith in students about to enter college and parents worried about sending them there.

Craig offers a few sample principles from The Box to bolster your faith in the face of unbelief:

  1. One must know everything about the universe and beyond to justly claim that God does not exist.

Atheists unwittingly presume for themselves the omniscience of the God they deny.

  2. Human experience and knowledge can't be the final authority of what God can be or do in His universe.

Most folks have never been to the other side of the universe or beyond the three or four dimensions of their existence.

  3. Miracles are reasonable and logical.

One who can create and sustain the universe can part the Red Sea.

  4. One must first prove that the God of infinite power does not exist before one can prove that the miracles of Scripture are impossible.

    And that is impossible.
