Christian Newswire/ -- Pastor Jamie Greening, hailing from the state of Washington, has written a collection of short stories that will be released by Athanatos Publishing Group on May 20th, 2010. These stories draw on his years of experience as a pastor to encourage, chasten, and probe what it means to be in pastoral ministry.
"The Haunting of Pastor Butch Gregory" begins with a story of poor Pastor Gregory- a man for whom Mondays are the worst days of the week. And this one is shaping up to be worse than other Mondays, as it would seem he is being shadowed throughout the day by a... beluga whale. With his soul rubbed raw, Pastor Gregory might even sign that resignation letter he keeps tucked away in his desk drawer.
The book includes Pastor Greening's winning entry in the Christian short story writing contest,
Convocation. Another story at first appears to be a foray into science fiction but turns out to be a satirical parody of contemporary issues in the Church. A handful of vignettes and poems round off this collection that is sure to hit pastors right where they are at.
Pastor Greening will also be presenting at the Athanatos Christian Ministry's Online Apologetics Conference which will be held online this Friday and Saturday, May 7th-8th. The conference theme is about using the arts, and literature in particular, to communicate the Gospel and the Christian world view. Pastor Greening will discuss both the strengths- and limitations- of such an effort.
