HOUSTON, Aug. 5, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- The North American Worldwide Marriage Encounter convention, held near Houston and attended by over 600 couples and priests, marked the official unveiling of the Fr. Chuck Gallagher S.J. Legacy Fund.  The convention was held at the end of last month at the Pasadena Convention Center, located southeast of Houston.

The announcement was made by Mark & Joyce Kulyk and Fr. Tom Ogg, who chair the committee overseeing the Legacy Fund.  They said, "Fr. Chuck is truly the father of the Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME) movement. His vision, drive and determination have allowed millions of couples to experience this special faith-based marriage enrichment weekend."

They explained that a gift to the Legacy Fund is different from other forms of Worldwide Marriage Encounter giving. The Legacy Fund is a permanent endowment fund and only its earnings will be spent.  These earnings will be used to support leadership training at all levels of our movement, including couples and priests presenting WWME weekends as well as couples and priests serving in leadership roles in their communities, dioceses and beyond.

The Kulyks and Fr. Ogg also said that they believe many couples are inspired by the WWME weekend experience and the positive impact on their marriages, and they may want to contribute to this very special legacy fund.

For further information in donating to the fund, donors should contact the Kulyks at 814-474-5207 or Fr. Ogg at 307-763-0782. In Canada Lloyd & Georgette Litke at 604-542-2678 are the Legacy Fund contact couple.

Initial monies and financial gifts have already been offered to establish the fund, which has a goal of $6 million over the next four years.

In addition to the Legacy Fund announcement another disclosure was made that the 2016 North American WWME convention will be held in Tampa, Florida at the Tampa Convention Center from June 17-19, 2016.
