LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- The organizers of TogetherLA, a three-day forum discussing how to love the city of Los Angeles, are pleased to announce several additions to the speaker lineup for the upcoming February event. Joining author, pastor, and founder of Redeemer City to City Tim Keller for February 26-28, 2015 will be:
- The Honorable Aja Brown, Mayor of Compton, addressing the importance of partnerships in Los Angeles. She will be joined by Pastor Rafer Owens of Compton and Pastor Ken Korver of Paramount
- Caitlin Crosby, founder of The Giving Keys, a nonprofit organization working to help individuals transition out of homelessness through crafting jewelry
- Kevin Malone, former General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who is leading an 18-month project to address the human trafficking of minors in the Los Angeles area
- Father Gregory Boyle, founder of the nationally acclaimed Homeboy Industries
- Andy Bales, Executive Director of Union Rescue Mission talking about the issue of homelessness in Los Angeles
Recognizing the importance of Los Angeles as a model to other cities both locally and nationally, Christian leaders from nonprofit, government, corporate, sports and entertainment industries will be gathering together to develop strategies and become equipped to better address issues of importance facing the city. According to Brannin Pitre, Senior Pastor of Grace Pasadena Church and Chairman of TogetherLA's Steering Committee, a conversation among all Christian leaders is needed if issues such as immigration, at-risk children, and racial tensions are to be addressed. "We need to work together and hear from many different people in order to impact our city."
TogetherLA will take place on February 26-28, 2015 at the West Angeles Church of God in Christ. The closing session is a free, city-wide gathering the evening of February 28th, featuring Dr. Timothy Keller.
