PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 30, 2024 /Christian Newswire/ -- OCP's Center for Learning is proud to announce the launch of Formation Events. Led by expert presenters, Center for Learning Formation Events are designed to help pastoral musicians and liturgical ministers develop the practical skills, knowledge, and spirituality necessary for successful liturgical preparation and leadership. The events take place at a host parish and are tailored to that community's particular ministry needs.
"In our work, the Center for Learning interacts with hundreds of music and liturgy directors in schools, parishes, and dioceses across the country," said Center for Learning director Matt Reichert. "Increasingly, parish leaders are identifying a need – and hunger – for liturgical catechesis for pastoral musicians, liturgical ministers, and the entire assembly. With the launch of Center for Learning Formation Events, we now have a way to meet that need and feed that hunger. Part liturgical catechesis, part ministry formation, and part retreat, these Formation Events prepare participants to understand and experience the liturgy in new and deeper ways."
These events provide a sustained formation and accompaniment relationship between a host parish, its leaders and the Center for Learning – before, during and after the event takes place. Beginning and ending with prayer, the event itself includes a keynote address grounded in one of the Church's essential liturgical documents, breakout sessions by ministry area, and a visioning and implementation session to help each host community develop a concrete action plan. The Center for Learning then supplies follow-up support for parish leaders, including access to exclusive "extensions" – tools and digital resources offering additional, targeted formation to broaden the impact of the event.
Formation Events are designed with a single parish in mind, but they can work at a diocesan or regional level. They can provide formation for pastoral musicians, for all liturgical minsters, or for the entire congregation.
"I encourage you to contact us to find out how a Formation Event from the Center for Learning can help meet your community's needs and advance your ministry goals," Reichert said. Learn more and schedule a meeting at learnwithocp.org/events.
