OWINGS MILLS, Md., April 18, 2011 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Five Star Publications has awarded "Dauntless Homecoming" by Pete Koziar honorable mention in the science fiction category. This is his first novel, which he has self-published.
The Five Star Publications Royal Dragonfly Book Awards were conceived to honor published authors of all types of literature - fiction and nonfiction - in 50 categories, appealing to a wide range of ages and comprehensive list of genres. They are part of the family of Five Star Dragonfly Book contests sponsored by Five Star Publications, a multi award-winning company with close to 25 years of publishing expertise. Their judges are industry experts with specific knowledge about the categories over which they preside.
Koziar's novel is an adventure set hundreds of years in the future in the middle of the millennial reign of Christ on the Earth. It explores the politics and culture of that time from the viewpoint of the crew of an interstellar expedition as they struggle to understand and find their own place in this renewed Earth. Due to a tragic misunderstanding, they reject the efforts of the people of that era to welcome them, and instead flee into the wilderness, where they encounter a city under the domination of the tyranny of an ancient evil.
The mentors to the crew seek desperately to reach them but find their own faith tested as they attempt to follow the leading of the King and his powerful allies, the resurrected believers, now known as the Purnarkat. Crew and mentors alike must face their own past in order to find victory over the present.
Breaking new ground with the setting of the millennial era, the novel can also be understood as a mainstream science fiction novel. In the tradition of C.S. Lewis, Clifford D. Simak and Zenna Henderson, deep spiritual matters are explored without becoming preachy or heavy handed.
"Dauntless Homecoming" is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels. Review copies are available to the media upon request.
