Women Leaders Convene at National Conference to Explore Christian Living in a Secular World
Contact: Sarah Flashing, Director, The Center for Women of Faith in Culture, 630-484-1855, media@womenfaithculture.org
CHICAGO, Feb. 3, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Egg donation, civil unions, and the exclusivity of Christianity are just some of the topics to be addressed at the first annual God, Faith & Culture Evangelical Women's Conference on April 30, 2011. Leading Christian women's voices in theology, philosophy, and bioethics are gathering to discuss Christian belief in the face of current cultural realities.
"Women will not be disappointed after spending the day wrestling with theological concepts and secular values through the lens of a Christian worldview," states Sarah Flashing, MA, founder and director of The Center for Women of Faith in Culture. "There is an unprecedented opportunity to be seized. Women are currently the greater part of church membership and ministry, and a movement is taking place among these women to move beyond Bible basics, to go deeper in understanding and wider in influence. This conference is for women who desire an intelligent, thoughtful Christianity while maintaining a firm commitment to the authority of Scripture."
The God, Faith, and Culture Evangelical Women's Conference is open to the public with advance registration (www.godfaithculture.com). Speakers include Sarah Flashing, The Center for Women of Faith in Culture, Jennifer Lahl, The Center for Bioethics & Culture, Caryn Rivadeneira, Christianity Today, Kathy Barnette, Judson University & TrueChristianLiving.com, Pam Gillaspie, Deep & Wide Ministries, and many others.
"It is important," explains Sarah Flashing, "that women understand the theological foundations of human dignity and the impact of sin on creation as they engage a secular culture hostile to the Christian worldview. In our desire to fully equip women for ministry in their spheres of influence, we are also unveiling the journal Intersect which will feature the writings of current and emerging evangelical women thinkers."
