CWA Deplores Stem-Cell Face Lift Fad

Contact: Lindsay Randall, Concerned Women for America, 202-488-7000 ext. 105

WASHINGTON, Aug. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) condemns the newest trend which uses stem-cell treatments from harvested embryos and aborted babies in exclusive face lifts. Appallingly, some scientists claim that fetal tissue from elective abortions at six to 12 weeks provides the best regenerative stem cells for anti-aging injections.

Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse, Senior Fellow of CWA’s Beverly LaHaye Institute, said, “This fad illustrates the extremes to which embryonic stem cell use can lead. The left has dismissed the right’s fears about embryonic stem cell farming –– the health implications for women and the ramifications of the demand for embryonic stem cells which might lead to poverty-stricken women being used to produce the fetuses necessary for meeting the vanity needs of Western women.”

Women in underdeveloped nations are paid up to $200 dollars to carry a baby up to the optimum eight to 12 week period when the fetuses are “harvested” for their stem cells which are then sold to exclusive cosmetic clinics.

Crouse continued, “It is hard to believe that such atrocities are going on today. These exclusive and exorbitant treatments are available in such varied locales as Barbados, Moscow, Dominican Republic and in Rotterdam.  The ethical and moral ramifications of such treatments are staggering; the experimental aspects are equally troubling. Not only is the origin of the fetuses immoral and inhumane; there are medical problems and complications associated with the injections. This savage and repulsive ‘brave new world’ of human sacrifices in the quest for eternal youth is a prime example of the end results when all moral boundaries are destroyed.”

“Sadly, some of these clinics are run by American doctors who are by-passing the more stringent legalities and moral constraints of the United States.  They are, in effect, using their patients as ‘guinea pigs’ for risky medical procedures that are unregulated and rely on highly immoral business, medical and ethical practices,” Crouse concluded.
