WEYMOUTH, Mass., Feb. 26, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Over 2 years ago, award-winning director Sean Bloomfield and producer Zaid Jazrawi set out on a journey to produce "The Triumph," a documentary about the alleged apparitions in Medjugorje.

The Triumph explores the mysteries and prophecies of Medjugorje while following the true story of a young man struggling with addiction. The film also features exclusive interviews with reported visionary Mirjana and a number of prominent Catholic priests.

"This is a film that should be seen by as many people as possible and this budget will help us raise awareness, making it possible to increase the number of theaters that can host the independent production," said Sean Bloomfield, the film's director. "We're excited and preparing for the official international release of the film and the crowd-funding helps us work toward the spring release."

In late January, a 45-day crowd-funding campaign began on IndieGoGo.com to raise the funds needed to finish production of the film and to launch its marketing campaign. As of today, The Triumph film has generated over $21,000 towards its goal of raising $50,000 by March 10.

Folks who contribute to the crowd-funding campaign receive in return items that IndieGoGo calls "perks." Perks range from an exclusive pre-release DVD to an invitation to the US premiere of the film. So far, over 200 people have contributed to the film's Indiegogo.com campaign, with several $1,000 donations.

"The response has been wonderful," said producer Zaid Jazrawi. "People are really getting behind 'The Triumph,' and we are really looking forward to releasing it to the world."

With just 13 days left in the campaign, an anonymous donor has offered to match whatever is raised in the campaign, essentially doubling each dollar raised on the site. Those interested in supporting the film can donate at www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-triumph.
