PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill., Sept. 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Illinois commends Chief Justice Bob Thomas and the entire Illinois Supreme Court for its decision to create the necessary rules to enforce the Parental Notice of Abortion Act of 1995 here in Illinois.
CWA joined others in a Supplemental Petition submitted to the Court last week requesting that these rules be promulgated. The 1995 law could not go into effect without them. In the ten years since then, over 40,000 abortions have been committed on minor daughters while parents were kept in the dark.
CWA of Illinois State Director, Karen Hayes, said, “Parents are the best protectors of, and counselors to, their children because they care about their children more than anyone else. They know their medical, emotional, and spiritual history, makeup and circumstances; and they are responsible for their general health and welfare.”
In addition, we rejoice that we will soon see the day when Illinois can no longer be called the Midwest abortion “dumping ground.” For years, Illinois’ neighbor states have had parental involvement laws in effect to protect their young girls. Predators and others were invited to Illinois to circumvent those state laws, perhaps covering up their sex crimes with the abortion.
