NEW BERLIN, Wisc., June 25, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The three best websites for Catholic parishes in the United States have been announced. The winners of the competition, sponsored by Liturgical Publications Inc (LPi) and hosted by CatholicTechTalk.com, were selected by a group of church technology experts from around the country.
The winners were selected based on the quality of content, visual appeal, ease of navigation, use of technology, and search engine optimization. "It was a difficult decision," said Clare Zajicek, who coordinated the project and also served as one of the judges. "I was amazed at the design talent being put forth by parishes around the country that are using their websites to deliver the message of their ministries out into the world."
The first place winner was Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community in Wayzata, MN hnoj.org. Their site was designed by Carson Weber using Drupal and the content is managed by Nicole Mamura. Holy Name will receive a $500 award from LPi as part of their recognition.
Second place was awarded to St. Aloysius in Jackson, NJ saintaloysiusonline.org. Ken Perry both created and maintains the site's content. The website runs on Expression Engine.
Third place was earned by Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, FL espiritusanto.cc. Brian Jones is responsible for design and maintenance of the site, which uses Joomla!
"By sponsoring the competition, we wanted to recognize those who apply skills for the benefit of their parish and give them a chance to share what they've done," said Joe Luedtke, editor at CatholicTechTalk.com and President of the eGiving division at LPi. "The quality of the winning sites shows a great deal of dedication on the parts of many who are volunteers at their parish. It's a great pleasure to see their skills and talents being applied at the parish level.
