WASHINGTON, June 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Tuesday, June 5, at 12:00 noon, three conservative Evangelical leaders will present historic Christian teaching on social and moral issues at the second annual Reese Roundtable on Capitol Hill. This luncheon symposium, entitled "Evangelicals in '08, United or Divided?" was planned six months ago and is expected to contrast significantly with the Monday evening, June 4 Sojourners' "Faith, Values and Politics" panel at George Washington University featuring Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards. The June 4 event will be broadcast live by CNN and hosted by the network's Soledad O'Brien.
The Roundtable event will take place the day after the Sojourner's panel at the National Press Club and on the same day as the Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire. The program includes Rev. Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK), president of Faith and Action and chairman of the Committee on Church and Society for the Evangelical Church Alliance, Norman Geisler, Ph.D., co-founder of Southern Evangelical Seminary and author of Legislating Morality and Bernard P. Reese, constitutional attorney and conservative Christian philanthropist.
Moderator of the forum, Rev. Rob Schenck, said:
"The Reese Roundtable presents enduring Biblical truth, Evangelical orthodoxy and historic Christian moral teaching. The Sojourners' panel represents a narrow subset of Christians who straddle between Evangelical and liberal Protestant. Their values do not represent mainstream Evangelical belief or practice.
"We challenge CNN and all news media to balance coverage of the Sojourners' panel by reporting from both sides of this debate. We invite all news networks, journals and Internet publications to attend the Reese Roundtable forum."
