VENTURA, Calif., May 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- Gospel Light Worldwide, the international children's ministry, will officially release the 'One Million Children: Journey of the Heart' movie on International Children's Day, June 14, 2009 to focus attention on the overlooked consequences of bringing God's Word to children around the world. The first 1,000 churches responding to their www.glww.org website will receive a free DVD or movie download, in advance of the official release date, to rally support and spread awareness of the importance of helping children know Jesus; calling it a Free Church Movie Night.
The Free Church Movie Night concept was created as a ministry response to help ease some of the suffering churches and church goers are experiencing from the economic downturn. Churches across America, regardless of size or denomination, are seeking creative, new ways to engage their members without incurring new expenses.
Gospel Light Worldwide president Marc Stein said, "When we consider how important entertainment becomes during troubled times, creating a Free Church Movie Night platform seemed like a reasonable thing for us to do. To be relevant today, we need to make quality Christian entertainment accessible, affordable and desirable."
'Journey of the Heart' profiles filmmaker Brent Nims' inner battle between what God's Word says and how he lives out being a Christian -- an unspoken and all too familiar struggle shared by most Christians in America. Brent's personal journey ultimately takes him to China, India and South Africa to document the real life stories of how God impacts children, their families and communities.
Nims uses his camera as our eyes and ears to enter the humble homes, orphanages, townships and churches where children share their stories in their own words, some of which will break your heart. Despite their bleak circumstances, faith and hope are found through the love of their personal Savior.
Stein continues, "The message of 'Journey of the Heart' is too important to miss because of shrinking resources. It says more in 30 minutes than the average Church member could articulate in a lifetime. We want to see the Church vibrant. God will provide as we first seek His Kingdom."
