WASHINGTON, April 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Sebelius nomination breaks President Obama's promise to appoint Cabinet members that will unite all  Americans.

Pro-life leaders to discuss the Governor Sebelius nomination at a news conference on Thursday, April 2 before she testifies before a Senate panel.

The news conference will be at 9:15 A.M. on Thursday, April 2, at the corner of 1st and Constitution NE in front of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Governor Sebelius has vetoed legislation that would have banned late-term abortions, forced abortion clinics to have the same standards as other medical clinics and is a supporter of late-term abortion provider George Tiller who is under investigation by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.

As HHS Secretary, Governor Sebelius would be the point person to introduce taxpayer funded abortions as part of President Obama's health care initiative.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states,

"The record of Governor Sebelius on abortion makes her too extreme and radical to be HHS Secretary.  The HHS Secretary who oversees America's health and social programs should be a person that supports human rights and social justice not crushes it.  Ms. Sebelius personal support of late-term abortionist George Tiller and her refusal to sign legislation that bans late-term abortion shows a profound lack of judgment and sensitivity for human life and the feelings of the American public.

"Sadly, President Obama has broken another campaign promise in which he stated his goal was to appoint Cabinet Members that would unite Americans and not divide them.  With the issue of health care reform being so critical, we should not have a nominee that is so committed to an ideological position that most Americans find offensive and divisive.

"Governor Sebelius will also be the point person for President Obama as he tries to push for taxpayer funded abortions as part of his health care plan.  It is essential for Americans to speak with a loud voice saying, 'We do not want our money being used to kill innocent children.'  Our health care and social programs should affirm the dignity of human rights not destroy them."
