MOKENA, Ill., Jan. 12, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Illinois Family Institute objects to the unfair, unnecessary tax increase passed by lame duck legislators in the final hours of the 96th legislative session. Tens of thousands of calls, emails, faxes and letters in opposition to increased taxes have been flooding their offices for weeks, to no avail.

"Placing a heavier tax burden on already over-taxed families in Illinois is a terrible move on their part. They have essentially taken much needed resources away from family budgets. Instead of cutting pork spending, they opted to continue to increase the insatiable demands of our growing state government," said Illinois Family Institute Executive Director David Smith.

The bill passed by razor-thin majorities in both Houses.
