MEDIA ADVISORY, Dec. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Christian Defense Coalition and Faith and Action launched "The Nativity Project...a public witness to keep Christ in Christmas" on December 7th on the steps of the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

The purpose of "The Nativity Project" is to encourage the faith community across America to display Nativity Scenes at public buildings and in public places during the Christmas Season.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "We applaud Operation Rescue for putting up this Nativity Display in front of the most notorious abortion clinic in all of America as part of 'The Nativity Project.'  Our hope and prayer is that as people see the infant Christ it will remind them that all life has dignity, purpose and significance.  The message of Christmas is one of peace, hope and inspiration.  Not violence and despair.  We are thankful that many across the nation are displaying Nativity Scenes in the public square."

Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, states, "In this Holy Season, Operation Rescue is honoring the Advent of the Christ Child with a Nativity Scene placed on public property in front of the nation's largest abortion mill.  The fact that this Nativity Scene sits so close to a facility where innocent children are killed makes its message even more significant.  Abortionist George Tiller, who routinely aborts children in the ninth month, is reminiscent of King Herod's murderous order to kill all the male children of Bethlehem that were under the age of two."
