After Being Unashamed of the Gospel, Missions is Next Step

Contact: Tim Rickel, World Gospel Mission, 765-671-7283

MEDIA ADVISORY, May 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- A pro-Bible advertising campaign featuring the slogan "I am not ashamed" recently wrapped up after garnering national media attention. Organizers helped Christians respond to criticism of the Bible, focusing on hot-button issues such as marriage, abortion, and intelligent design. Tim Rickel, Vice President of Communication at World Gospel Mission (WGM), offered his praise for the campaign, encouraging believers to take the next step. "It has been encouraging to see so many believers publicly declare that they are not ashamed of the gospel. But it is time for us all to put those words into action. Missions is a great next step."

Founded in 1910, WGM is active in 26 areas of the world, including Kenya, Ukraine, and Haiti. Missionaries and volunteers serve in areas of medicine, education, compassionate ministries, church ministries, and youth and children's outreach.

"One of our strengths is the joy we find in matching an individual or couple to a ministry that fits them perfectly," said Rickel. "We realize missions trips--whether you go for two weeks or two decades--take a big step of faith, and we're here to help people take that step. Even more, we want to help Christians think about their own community as a mission field and have developed online resources to help them do so."

WGM offers a resource called The World Go! Manual to help believers understand what it means to be a missions-active Christian in their own context. This nine-chapter Bible study for missions is available for as a free download on their website.
