YCT noted in their press release yesterday that because Straus killed a ban on Sanctuary Cities, a violent illegal migrant named Victor Reyes, who had been deported four times and was hiding in Houston under the city's "Sanctuary City" policy, murdered 25-year-old Spencer Golvach in cold blood on January 31, 2015.

"The tragic death of Spencer Golvach reveals that Joe Straus is truly unfit to continue to represent the people of House District 121," said Jeff Judson, his challenger in the March 1st Republican Primary as voters have already started voting early between February 16th and 26th. "His duplicity has been revealed, claiming on the one hand that he's tough on border security, while pro-actively killing the ban on Sanctuary Cities. But now the truth is out and the voters in this election will know that Straus's active sabotage of this legislation had deadly consequences, just as was predicted."

"The facts are damning!" continued Judson. "Mark Jones, a Rice political science professor who follows legislative action, attributed the failure to pass a ban on Sanctuary Cities (SB 9) squarely at the feet of Joe Straus in the Houston Chronicle on June 30, 2011. Last year, Straus's hand-picked committee chairmen in the House refused to even give an anti-Sanctuary Cities bill a hearing. And after the 2015 legislative session, Texas Democratic State Rep. Roberto Alonzo actually praised Speaker Straus for killing a ban on Sanctuary Cities on WFAA -TV."

Judson concluded, "When I'm elected to represent HD121, my top priority will be to ban Sanctuary Cities. No father should ever have to bury his child because the legislature failed to act. We will not put another Texas life at risk by shielding dangerous migrants from federal immigration enforcement."

The story about how Straus' opposition to common sense conservative legislation led to the murder of a 25-year-old man has now gone national through WorldNetDaily.com.
