ROCKFORD, Ill., Sept. 3, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Advocates are using the upcoming G-20 Summit, in St Petersburg (September 5-6) to attack Russia on a law adopted in June which prohibits advocacy aimed at promoting homosexual conduct to minors. The law passed the Duma by a vote of 388-to-1 and is supported by 86% of the Russian people.

On September 3, homosexual advocacy groups in a number of cities, including London, will demonstrate to urge their governments to confront the Russian Federation on a law designed to protect the health and morals of minors.

A London-based group is calling for a "Day of Action," to persuade British Prime Minister David Cameron to confront Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 Summit and demand repeal of the law. If the law stands, they are threatening a boycott of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

World Congress of Families Managing Director Larry Jacobs noted: "All the law does is to prohibit advocacy aimed at involving minors in a lifestyle that would imperil their physical and moral health.  Even the U.S. Centers for Disease Control has shown that sexually transmitted diseases, drug use and suicide rates are significantly higher among what it discreetly calls a 'sexual minority.'  CDC data also demonstrates that there is much greater health risks among teenagers who practice homosexuality than those who do not engage in homosexual behavior."

Jacobs further observed that homosexual conduct has been legal in Russia since 1993. "The law at issue doesn't change the legality of homosexual relations between adults.  It simply states that adults can't try to corrupt children by encouraging sexual experimentation which could have life-threatening consequences."
