ABILENE, Texas, April 29, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- On the day of her husband's funeral, Heather Gray, military wife and mother of three, received a letter which began: "To answer the question of why I'm willing to lay my life on the line for my country...." Reading that letter, Heather became convinced of the value of the devotional she and her husband, Major David Gray, had been writing for military couples. During the months that followed David's death, Heather realized we actually learn and grow the most through our pain and trials. And out of that trial came "Faith, Hope, Love, & Deployment: 40 Devotions for Military Couples."

"The words of Heather Gray are truly inspiring and encouraging," said Paula Roy, wife of retired Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force and Director of Family Services for the Air Force Association. "In the midst of dealing with her grief, this Air Force Key Spouse continues to learn from her adversity and uses it to benefit others. Although this book was written for military couples, anyone reading it will gain something to add meaning to their life and to the lives of others."

During her husband David's last deployment, Heather and he realized the need for a devotional that would not only draw them closer to the Lord, but to each other while separated, specifically using the lost art of letter writing. Not discovering a book fitting all their desires, they began writing "Faith, Hope, Love, & Deployment." Sadly, shortly after beginning the project, David was killed in action.

Heather Gray is founder of Finish Strong Ministries. She was happily married to Major David Gray for eleven years until he was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012. Heather served as a Key Spouse in the Air Force for six years. She continues to serve military families as a Key Spouse Mentor. David and Heather had three beautiful children together who frequently travel with her as she shares a message of hope and resiliency to audiences across the globe.
